TECHNIQUE

Amelia Soaring Over Blue Starry Skies was created by photographing a hand-cut collage of fashion portraiture and illustrations of birds. The digital negative was then contact printed onto hand shaped circular paper that had been hand-brushed with chemicals, before drying in a dark room. Once exposed to light, the piece was washed to develop a cyan blue colour and pressed driedthen hand finished with variegated zinc leaf. Each zinc leaf is treated with a chemical acid wash to create a beautiful tonal pattern of turquoise, green and blue.
