Handprinted on handmade ivory recycled cotton rag paper in heavy rain.
This artwork was inspired by Amelia Earhart, the pioneering female aviator and advocate for gender equality and defying cultural norms.
Bust Of Amelia In The Rain was created by photographing a hand-cut collage of fashion portraiture and illustrations of birds. The digital negative was then contact printed onto paper that had been hand-brushed with chemicals, before drying in a dark room.
Exposed to light in heavy rain for three days, the print captures natural forms from each droplet on top of the image adding an extra dimension to the piece. it was then washed to develop a cyan blue colour.
