Handprinted on Saunders Waterford Aquarelle Classic watercolour paper.
This work was inspired by Janus, the ancient Roman God of new beginnings. Looking to the past and the future with two faces, it is a representation of duality, transition and time.
Circular Musings In Heaven was created by photographing a hand-cut collage of female portraiture and the surface textures of chemigrams. The digital negative was then contact printed onto hand shaped circular paper that had been hand-brushed with chemicals, before drying in a dark room. Once exposed to light, the piece was washed to develop a cyan blue colour, pressed dry and then hand finished with 22ct yellow gold leaf.
