Handprinted on Saunders Waterford Series Classic Aquarelle Watercolour paper.
This artwork was inspired by the British aviator, Amy Johnson. The title is taken from a film biopic called 'They Flew Alone'
Gilded Wings and the Woman Study was created by photographing a hand-cut collage made from vintage portraiture, fashion imagery and illustrations of birds. The digital negative was then contact printed onto paper that had been hand-brushed with chemicals, before drying in a dark room. Once exposed to light, the piece was washed to develop it's cyan blue colour and hand-finished with 24ct gold leaf.
