Inspiration
This collection of still life feather photographs was inspired by Charles Darwin and James Audubon's ornithological studies.
Feathers were found, collected, catalogued, naturally dyed and photographed to document their detailed natural beauty and form.
Technique
The still life photograph of a pair of single Jay feather was shot in diffused daylight over a long exposure.
The technique creates a painterly, ethereal and dreamy image, capturing the individual beauty of the feather. The finished still life photograph was giclee printed with pigment-based inks onto high-quality archival paper, achieving a print of superior quality.
