Hand finished with deckled edges and blue / green zinc leaf.
Handprinted on handmade recycled 100% cotton rag paper.
This artwork was inspired by Janus, the ancient Roman God of new beginnings. Looking to the past and the future with two faces, it is a representation of reflection, transition, growth and time. A depiction of both public and private faces and in what means we choose to reveal them.
Musings At Dusk was created by photographing a hand-cut collage of female portraiture and the surface textures of chemigrams. The digital negative was then contact printed onto handmade paper brush coated with chemicals, before drying in a dark room. Once exposed to light, the piece was washed to develop a cyan blue colour, pressed dry and then hand finished with blue / green zinc leaf.
