This work is a feminine take on the ancient Roman God of new beginnings. Looking to the past and the future with two faces, it is a representation of duality, transition and time.
Musings In Heaven was created by photographing a hand-cut collage of female portraiture and the surface textures of chemigrams. The digital negative was then contact printed onto hand painted circular shape, before drying in a dark room. Once exposed to light, the piece was washed to develop a cyan blue colour, pressed dry and then hand finished with 22ct yellow gold leaf.

This series is a modern feminist spin on a classic Roman myth - Janus, the god of new beginnings, symbolised by two faces
Looking to the future and the past simultaneously, we strive to live better lives and take positives from our mistakes
Janus is often associated with births and journeys, a symbol of rising female empowerment
Whichever way we face, we stand together in our hopes for the future for all of mankind
