Original, circular mixed media gold leaf cyanotype.
Hand finished with 24ct gold leaf.
Handprinted on handmade recycled cotton rag paper.
This work is an homage to the pioneering female pilot Amelia Earhart. She was not only the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, she was also an advocate for gender equality and women's rights.
Study Of Amelia In Gold (Small) was created by photographing a hand-cut collage of photographic portraiture and illustrations of birds. The digital negative was then contact printed onto paper that had been hand-brushed with chemicals, before drying in a dark room. Once exposed to light, the piece was washed to develop a cyan blue colour, dried and hand finished with 24ct gold leaf.
