Inspiration
Inspired by the Greek goddess Gaia (Mother Nature). She is the personification of the entire Earth's ecosystem, working to achieve and maintain harmony, wholeness and balance within the environment.

Mother Nature heals, nurtures and supports all life on this planet. This is a homage to the ultimate life giving goddess, celebrating our connection with the environment, the harmony, balance and continuity of Life on Earth.

Technique
Convergent Camouflage (Study On Porcelain) was created by constructing a hand-cut collage using female photographic portraiture, illustrations of a bird and topography of the world.

After coating the bisque fired paper porcelain with light-sensitive chemistry and pigment, it is left to dry in a dark room. The large scale negative is then contact printed onto the porcelain disk by exposing to daylight (UV rays). The print is then processed by thoroughly washing in water to remove any unexposed solution and left to soak for 3-4 weeks. It can then be dried, developing to full density Prussian blue after 24 hours.

Dimensions
Unframed:  150mm diameter
Framed:      210mm diameter x 30mm frame depth x 13mm frame face

Paper
Hand-shaped, bisque fired, paper porcelain disk:
3mmm / Cotton Paper Porcelain / Recycled / Bisque Fired / Linen Pressed Texture

Mount
We use float mounting for all of our framed cyanotypes. The artwork floats above a snow-white mount board, showcasing the paper texture and deckled edging.

Each frame is handmade by our London based design team. They prime and sand the wooden frame before spraying black or white soft-sheen paint to achieve the highest quality finish. All frames come with gallery spec, 3mm thick anti-reflective/ UV glazing as standard.

If you would like a bespoke frame, please get in touch to discuss alternative colours, gilding and glazing options.
